Top Gear was, and still is, one of the most extraordinary shows ever concocted. The adventures span the globe from Australia to Zimbabwe, and so does the show’s fanbase. In fact, with Jeremy, James, and Richard at the helm, Top Gear was one of the most popular TV shows in the world. In 2013 Top Gear was acknowledged as the world’s most widely viewed factual program by Guinness World Records, reaching more than 200 countries and 350 million people.

Top Gear needed a budget to match its scope, and according to Business Insider, the show’s budget was $1.5 million an episode when May, Hammond, Clarkson were hosting—making one of the most expensive productions in the BBC’s history. That made for some pretty big adventures, and MotorTrend has compiled some of the show’s biggest budget-busting exploits. No ‘80s hatchbacks or budget supercar challenges here; we wanted to collect some of the most extravagant and iconic moments from the show’s history.

So what did we pick? Well, you might remember Top Gear’s disdain for RVs, small camper vans, and the like. In a segment from season 14, James took it upon himself to find a way to clear Britain’s roads of the hated caravan… by attaching it to a blimp. The crazy, custom airship makes the journey to Dorset where Richard picks him up in a Lamborghini Gallardo 550-2 Valentino Balboni Edition. Now that’s how you take a holiday.

I won’t spoil what else we’ve thrown into this “Best Of Top Gear” video for you. If you want to find out, head over to MotorTrend OnDemand and sign up for your free trial today.
