The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit was announced in 2016 as a top-of-the-line luxury SUV with premium amenities; a polished interior; a new fascia, grille and LED lamps; and 20-inch aluminum wheels. For the 2020 model year, the Grand Cherokee Summit receives new options, and it can still come with the 5.7-liter V-8 engine. Here are five cool things about the most polished Grand Cherokee you can get today.

Optional Black Roof

For the 2020 model year, Jeep is offering a new black roof option on the Summit, which looks really nice when you get the Ivory Tri-Coat exterior color. The contrast of the black roof with the white exterior paint is a nice combination, and it brings a cool and young vibe to a model that’s already getting old. Pricing for the black roof hasn’t been announced yet, but expect to pay a bit more, as the Ivory Tri-Coat is already a $595 option.

New Wheels and New Leather

For 2020 there will be new wheel designs and new interior colors. The wheels are still 20 inches, but the design of the current polished aluminum wheels and platinum aluminum wheels will be different compared to today’s options.

As far as interior options go, today you can choose between six interior options (including one premium choice), but for 2020 customers will have two more colors available—Light Frost/Brown and Indigo/Sky Gray, the latter available only on Summit models. These dual-tone interiors will be an option of about $500, just like the Dark Sienna Brown you can get today.

V-6 or V-8

We know a new Grand Cherokee is in the works, but until we see the new model, Jeep will keep refreshing its lineup with new trims and small details. For 2020 the Summit keeps the 3.6-liter V-6 as the standard engine, which produces 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 5.7-liter V-8 still is optional, and it can send 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque to either the rear or all four wheels. The only transmission available is the eight-speed automatic, and four-wheel drive is optional.

Luxury inside and out

You get what you pay for. Getting the top-of-the-line Grand Cherokee as an alternative to a luxury SUV with a premium badge means a nice interior with good amenities. Like all Grand Cherokees, the Summit comes with the 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. The Summit also comes with wood on the dash, door panels (front and rear), and steering wheel, increasing the refinement inside. The quilted leather on the seats and door panels also stand out in this Grand Cherokee, and the front seat backs have the words “Summit” stitched, telling the occupants that they’re riding in the most luxurious Grand Cherokee.

Don’t forget about rear passengers, who are also in for a treat. The quilted leather seats expand to the rear, and the option for two personalized entertainment screens on the back of the front headrests returns for 2020. The dual-screen entertainment option costs $1,995 today, and we don’t expect that to change. A Blu-ray video player can be shared by both screens, but each screen also has the option of playing its own content through a HDMI port. Passengers seated in the back will also enjoy lots of leg- and headroom and a panoramic sunroof.
