General Motors has released basic pricing for the new and improved 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, and the math works out favorably for customers: The least-expensive version of the full-size SUV costs just $1,000 more than the previous model. This, despite the truck’s all-new independent rear suspension, new diesel engine option, improved interior packaging, and much, much more.
That puts the price of the base Tahoe LS at $50,295. Standard features on the Tahoe LS will include a 10-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-inch digital gauge-cluster display, 18-inch wheels, and LED headlamps and taillamps. Every Tahoe also benefits from a standard 10-speed automatic transmission and 355-hp 6.2-liter V-8 engine, too. Customers will have to wait an extra month for that trim, however; Chevrolet dealers will only be able to order LT, Z71, Premier, and High Country trims initially. The RST will arrive with the LS models about a month later.
Chevy says base prices for Tahoe and the longer-wheelbase Suburban (which arrives later) are “effectively carryover.” Beyond the LS, the next-level-up LT receives more content and starts at $55,095, $800 more than the pre-redesign version. Step up to the Tahoe Premier, and you’ll pay at least $63,895, which actually is $100 less than the 2020 equivalent—considering how these SUVs get GM’s excellent adaptive suspension technology, a larger 8.0-inch instrument cluster display, and other updates, that’s looking like a pretty good deal.
The High Country trim upgrades to Chevy’s 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, and a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-siz producing 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque is available on all models except the Z71. Detailed pricing for both choices is forthcoming, as is pricing for the Tahoe’s longer 2021 Chevy Suburban sibling. GM tells us to expect the Suburban trim levels to cost about $2,700 more than their Tahoe equivalents. More details will be provided next month, and production of the new Tahoe begins this spring, with the Suburban following roughly a month later and the diesel engine option coming online in the fall
