SUVs were born out of a need for more interior space, ground clearance, and off-road capability. But somewhere along the line, high-performance and super-luxury SUVs permeated the market and changed how we view these utility vehicles. No longer are sports cars and luxury cars the only segments that epitomize conspicuous consumption. Keep reading for 10 of the most expensive SUVs on the market.

2020 Mercedes-AMG G 63 – $157,445

The G-Class, a symbol of Mercedes’ off-road prowess since 1979, has undergone a complete redesign for 2019. The potent G 63 version now produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from its robust new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, and it also receives an improved suspension. Inside the cabin, the G-Class is every bit as luxurious as you’d expect, with massaging seats, as well as dual 12.3-inch displays that merge into one cohesive unit on the dashboard.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid – $163,250

You can get a standard Cayenne for under $70,000, but customers looking for the powerful plug-in hybrid variant will have to pay a lot more. The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid makes an impressive 670 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 and electric motor combination. It’s the most powerful production SUV we’ve driven, not to mention one of the most expensive SUVs on the market.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe – $165,750

You can get that same 670 hp in a Porsche SUV with a lower roofline. The coupe version of the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid sports a fastback look with an A-pillar that has been angled further back. A spoiler adorns the rear and improves airflow. If you’re a fan of the fastback SUV aesthetic, you only have to spend a bit more to get the Cayenne coupe Turbo S E-Hybrid.

2019 Maserati Levante Trofeo – $171,475

The Maserati Levante was one of the first high-priced SUVs to hit the market from an ultra-luxury automaker. This model makes 590 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque from its 3.8-liter V-8 engine, and as we found out during a test drive, it makes a great canyon carver. Carbon-fiber accents adorning the front splitter, side skirts, and bumper add to its stylish appearance, and the interior has a 3D matte carbon-fiber pattern.

2021 Aston Martin DBX – $192,986

The long-awaited Aston Martin DBX is almost here, and it will be one of the most expensive SUVs on the market when it lands in the second half of 2020.  And for good reason, considering Aston Martin’s focus on hand crafting. Each DBX interior will require more than 200 hours of hand finishing, and there’s plenty of ways to customize yours. Opt for an 80-percent wool blend covering on the seats, along with bronze mesh, a flax composite—or carbon-fiber trim instead of wood. Under the hood, you’ll find a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 542 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

2020 Lamborghini Urus – $211,321

If the thought of a Lamborghini SUV is too much for your sports car purist mind to bear, just wait until you hear what it can do. The Lamborghini Urus packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that generates 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. In our tests, it ran from 0-60 mph in an incredible 3.0 seconds, and it completed the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 120.1 mph. Thanks to its enormous carbon ceramic brakes and lightweight body, it can stop from 60 mph in just 107 feet.

2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS – around $200,000

If you want a super luxury SUV without the flashy, ultra-exclusive badge, you might want to look at the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS. But make no mistake: This large SUV has all the features to make it worth its near-$200,000 price tag. In the back, you’ll find some of the most plush rear seats you’ve ever seen. The suspension has been specially tuned, promising an even more refined ride than the regular GLS. Expect this 550-hp, high-priced SUV to make its way to the U.S. from the middle of 2020.

2020 Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB (557 HP) – $210,795

Who knew a Range Rover could get this expensive? The long-wheelbase Range Rover SVAutobiography with the 557-hp V-8 engine joins a small group of high-priced SUVs above $200,000. Some of its best features include 24-way heated and cooled Hot-Stone Massage seats, a 29-speaker Meridian sound system, deployable tables with a leather finish, and a refrigerator in the rear.

2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed – $242,125

Bentley offers a wide range of Bentayga SUVs, from the regular V-8 model to a hybrid version, and finally, the mighty Bentayga Speed. This version boasts a V-12 engine making 626 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque—enough for the SUV to reach a top speed of 190 mph. Pretty much whatever you want is yours. It’ll set you back close to $250,000, but Bentley’s Mulliner department allows buyers to customize their Bentayga to their exact personal tastes.

2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan – $332,350

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan takes the cake when it comes to the most expensive SUVs you can buy today. In back, you can enjoy a drinks cabinet with a refrigerator, champagne flutes, and Rolls-Royce whisky glasses, and a decanter. Lambswool floor mats make the interior even more comfortable. Like some other high-priced SUVs, you can commission the Cullinan to your exact preferences, from personalized treadplates to headrest embroidery and much more. This SUV’s V-12 engine makes 563 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, and believe it or not, it’s well equipped to handle off-road driving. Just make sure you to take your shoes off before you get back inside.
