Jeep is preparing to offer an electrified version of every one of its vehicles by 2022, and we’re just starting to see the fruits of that labor. Today, Jeep dropped more details on its Compass and Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrids that arrive this summer in Europe.

Customers in certain European countries can now put a deposit down on First Edition models. These produce 240 hp from their plug-in hybrid powertrains, Jeep confirms. A 1.3-liter turbo engine, paired to an automatic transmission, drives the front axle, while an electric motor runs the rear wheels. The 11.4-kilowatt-hour battery can be recharged while driving or through an external outlet like the Wallbox, a dedicated home charging station included with First Editions. With this solution, drivers can recharge at 3 kilowatts for 3.5 hours, or upgrade to 7.4 kilowatts for 100 minutes. Jeep says the Euro-spec vehicles can travel 50 km (31 miles) in pure electric mode, but due to differences in testing procedures that doesn’t necessarily indicate how much range North American models could achieve. Top speed is estimated at 130 km/h (81 mph) in electric mode, and 200 km/h (124 miles) in hybrid mode.

Two different themes will be available on First Edition models: Urban and Off-Road. The former gets a sportier look with 19-inch wheels, while Off-Road models are, as the name suggests, tailored for driving off the beaten path, receiving 17-inch wheels. An 8.4-inch touchscreen, 7.0-inch TFT display, park assist system, blind spot monitor, and special badging are other features you’ll find on these models.

Renegade and Compass 4xe First Editions receive a robust warranty. Along with a five-year vehicle warranty, Jeep is also including an eight-year warranty for the battery.

Jeep will offer four trim levels other than First Edition: Longitude, Limited, S, and Trailhawk. The plug-in hybrids arrive in Europe early next summer, and hopefully we’ll learn U.S.-specific details soon.
